DESCRIPTION:The International Temperate Rice Conference (ITRC) is a global initiative dedicated to bringing temperate rice growing countries together for the discussion\, promotion and advancement of research\, technology and innovation in the field. This initiative enables information exchange among leading scientists and other stakeholders engaged in sustainable rice production in temperate zones of the globe. \nITRC 2024 will be held in New Orleans\, Louisiana at the Marriott New Orleans Hotel on Canal Street in the Historic French Quarter\, June 5-8\, 2024. The meeting will bring together rice scientists and others from around the globe to provide for exchange of information\, cooperative planning\, and networking to facilitate all aspects of rice research\, extension work\, supply chain dynamics and all other areas of production. Past meeting locations have included Australia (2)\, California\, Italy\, Uruguay\, Thailand and Brazil (most recently in 2020). The meeting has grown through the years and includes keynote speakers\, symposia\, research discipline panels and poster sessions. The research discipline panels include Breeding and Genomics\, Plant Protection (Entomology and Pathology)\, Culture and Soil Science\, Weed Science and Postharvest (Economics and Quality). The highlight of the meeting will be a tour of the rice production region of Southwest Louisiana. The Louisiana meeting is being hosted by the Louisiana State University AgCenter and the USA Rice Federation. \nDate: 5-8 June\, 2024\nSRI Presenter: Karla Cordero-Lara\, Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias\, Chile\nSRI Presentation Title: Novel Climate Smart Rice Production System Based on SRI and New Varieties in Chile for Climate Adaptation\nVenue: Marriott New Orleans Hotel\, New Orleans\, Louisiana\, USA\nOrganizers: Louisiana State University AgCenter and the USA Rice Federation.\nMore Information: See conference website

SUMMARY:The Rice Agenda: Cultivating Change for Development Benefits
DESCRIPTION:This event is designed to cater to a general audience who are interested in learning about SRI and how it can contribute to achieving climate and development goals within the context of project work\, providing them with an insightful\, and accessible introduction. However\, even those familiar with SRI will find value in the discussion\, as we explore real-world use cases and examine how development banks such as Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) can incorporate SRI into their projects to further their organizational goals\, building upon the strong foundations they have already created. \nDate: April 22\, 2024\nTime: 13.30 – 14.45 GMT+3\nVenue: Zoom\nOrganizers: SRI-2030 and Islamic Development Bank \nZoom Link: [Click Here]
