Career Opportunity: Full-Time Research Coordinator at Echo Asia

ECHO Asia is part of ECHO’s global work to reduce hunger and improve lives through agricultural training and resources. Based in Chiang Mai, the Asia Impact Center serves as a regional hub for Southeast Asia and South Asia, including a small-farm resource center, seed bank, trainings, events, technical support, and agricultural resources for practitioners working with smallholder farmers

The Research Coordinator will support ECHO Asia’s research and technical resourcing activities through the coordination of field research, experimental design, implementation of research trials, and data collection. This role will also contribute to the development of resource publications, including manuals, videos, and research reports, while helping identify agricultural innovations, practices, and technologies suited to smallholder farming contexts in Asia

  • Reporting: Reports to the Technical Resourcing Manager

Responsibilities
The Research Coordinator supports ECHO Asia’s technical resourcing and research activities. Key duties include:

  • Research: Coordinating research trials (variety, livestock feed, etc.), managing experimental plots, collecting data, providing logistical support for research materials/interns, and performing rural community surveys.
  • Technical Support: Mentoring staff/interns, responding to technical requests, assisting with material translation, and supporting curriculum development.
  • Extension: Representing ECHO at conferences/workshops, conducting off-site training, and providing farm tours.
  • Collaboration: Maintaining partnerships with agricultural universities and government entities, and assisting in the production of resource publications like manuals and reports.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., agricultural or environmental science) plus experience in field trials, experimental design, and agricultural production or extension.
  • Competencies: Professional fluency in English (Thai preferred), proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software, a valid driver’s license, and an ability to work in multi-cultural environments.
